Let's Get Crackin' at Joes Crab Shack

Joe's Crab Shack is a fun seafood place to get down and messy with your favorite crab dishes!! It's pretty inexpensive, but delicious! We absolutely loved the stuffed mushroom appetizer! We even attempted to make it at home. We can save that recipe for another post.

The crab legs are marinated in different flavors. We tried BBQ. It was so good! I'm not particularly a pro at cracking shells, but Hendy's pretty darn good. Unfortunately we were too full to try dessert. Next time! We're definitely coming back for seconds!

Giant Fortune Cookies

Hey all,

Fatimah's got this crazy internship and one of their projects involves a gift lounge for celebs... so they got this crazy invite for the celebs and its a GIANT FORTUNE COOKIE.

IMO they didn't taste that great (not a fan of dark chocolate), but they looked awesome.

Fire! Fire! Monster

Kinda looks like the smoke cloud is a Monster trying to eat the tree!

Edit: Paint Skillz!!! Thats a better look at the monster.. :D

Monster Burp!

Another View of the Fire Monster

Hey all,

Hendy here... well on the way driving to Fatimah's place I saw some of the fire off the 210 freeway, I think it was in the La Canada/Flintridge area. The air once I got to Sylmar, CA was horrible. It was stuffy, thick, and smelled like ashes. It definitely didn't help that I was fasting. All we were breathing was ashes.

The night view was better but the camera sucked so all I was able to get were blank images... but it looks like a scary fire. Good luck to the firemen working on the 4 fires right now, and best wishes to those affected.

ICHIBAN

One of my closest friends, Whitney introduced me a sushi which I can't get enough of...(drumroll please)... the WHITE ROLL!!!

But you can't have the WHITE ROLL just anywhere, the best place I've tried is at Ichiban in Glendale across the street from the Americana.

It is amazing! Just ask Hendy himself. He's had cravings of the white rolls and we finally fulfilled that craving tonight. It is so worth it!

So what's in the WHITE ROLL you might ask...well:
it's basically a fried sushi stuffed with this creamy sauce (Hendy thinks it has mayo in it), shrimp tempura and spicy tuna!

How can you resist that? Well we obviously couldn't resist the temptation. Are you now tempted to try a WHITE ROLL for just under $10?

You know you want to!!!!!!

The Farm @ The Grove

After a tiring day of dancing in the sun, Hendy took me out to a nice restaurant at the Grove. It's called the Farm.

Unfortunately, although Hendy made reservations at 9.15pm we waited an extra 20 minutes so we can sit outside by the water works. It was so worth it!

The view was beautiftul. It was a little strange to have dinner while the paramedics are rescuing someone in the theater right across where we were sitting.

Hendy ordered the Filet Mignon and I ordered the The Farm Lobster Club sandwich. The Filet Mignon was pretty good as it came with asparagus and creamy corn polenta. The best thing about the Farm Lobster club sandwich were the fries.

Our favorite thing, were the Fried Chicken Strips! They were delicious, cruchy and balanced well with ranch and/or bbq.

So, if you're in the mood for spending atleast $75 on a meal at the Grove... The Farm is a fairly good consideration.

Nubi Yogurt

We know that yogurt is the new "in-thing" and we've been to many.

One of the few we really enjoy is called Nubi. We're not sure of how many locations they have, but we visited the one at the Santa Anita Mall today and experimented with toppings and yogurts (as you can see in the picture above).

This yogurt place is different than Pinkberry because you become the chef. You pick how much yogurt you want and what toppings you and how much of the zillion toppings they have handy at Nubi. It's yogurt heaven!!!

Yogurt is a fun way to be a little healthier, plus you get to choose from a variety of flavors, which change occassionally. We tried the peach and some yogurt that tasted like hawaiian punch. It was a perfect combination.

We decided to go crazy with toppings: white chocolate chip, cinnamon toast crunch, gummy bears, mochi, mango jelly, granola, chocolate chip cookie dough and fruity pebbles. It was amazing and we can't wait to go back next time!

FML

Welcome Back!
I was browsing through this site today, I was really bored, and came across this gem. Enjoy!

"Today, I went to the mall and saw a really cute guy. I acted all cool and started to do a sexy hair flip. On the way back up from the flip I hit my head on the AT&T cell phone stand. - FML"

P.S.

For those that do not know I am a pretty big Dodger fan, so I have been following the trade talks for the past couple days. Looking at my phone and refreshing every second to see what may be coming our way. Anyways, I am pretty excited about the addition of LHP George Sherrill as an addition to one of our biggest strengths (although not lately with this current series in St. Louis) stronger by adding another lefty arm. I was a little worried that we may be giving up a lot because the deal to acquire him involved both Scott Elbert and Josh Bell. But it settled on Josh Bell and another reliever that isn't on many team's radar. So to end this mini dodger post, I am now stressing because the Dodgers are still rumored to be involved in Roy Halladay.

Edit: Okay, I effed up on the posting part so this is posted a tad late... anyways, enjoy! Oh! and the Dodgers did not end up getting in on Roy Halladay but we were in the mix for Adrian Gonzalez and Heath Bell but it ended up not going through. Plus a good showing from Sherrill last night as he struck out the side.

Steaz Organic Iced Teaz

Welcome back to the blog...

This is our favorite, well actual one of our first recommendations.

We just tried Steaz Organic Teaz and we fell in love with it (Look at the picture above).

We tried the green tea with blueberry pomegranate acai flavor and it's the perfect the combination of sweetness, green tea. Plus, we could still taste the pomegranate and blueberry and it wasn't overpowering either!

It cost about $3.50 a 16 oz. can, but it is definitely worth it!!!!!

This would almost replace Fatimah's favorite beverage, Coke... but not just yet. It's a healthy alternative that we highly recommend!

Edit: If you guys want to give this a try, here's a coupon... Buy one get one free! The more the merrier!

White Cheddar Fries

Hendy and I are huge chicken wing fans! So after, we went to the Orange County Fair we decided to take it upon ourselves to create the ultimate fry that kind of resembled how wings are made! We tried so many things at the fair, but no one really took a great leap to make crazy fries. Here's our recipe:

Ingredients:
Flour
Water
Pepper
Salt
Ore-Ida Steak Fries
Italian Bread Crumbs
Parmesan Cheese
White Cheddar Seasoning
Tapioca Starch

Sauce:
Ranch
Alfredo Sauce

Steps:

1. Mix flour, water, salt, pepper, white cheddar seasoning and parmesan cheese in a mixing bowl.
Make sure the consistency of the mix is thick and creamy.

2. Turn on the stove with vegetable oil at a medium level.

3. Base the fry with tapioca starch and then dip into the flour batter.

4. Next remove excess batter from fry and cover the battered fry in Italian bread crumbs.

5. Then slowly and carefully place the fries in fryer.

6. Wait until golden brown and remove fries from the fryer.

7. Place fries on a plate and serve hot.

8. For dipping sauce, mix alfredo sauce and ranch together.

9. Enjoy!

Orphan Premiere

Last night, was the Orphan premiere in Westwood. Many stars were there including Ciara, Kim Kardashian, Robert Downey Jr. and the one only Emmy Rossum.

We sat a couple of rows behind the cast and stars of the movie. If you're looking for suspense, the movie delivers. Sound is a key factor in horror/suspense movies and the Orphan used it to their advantage. I was practically jumping out of my seat every time the noise was more intense. I think I cut the circulation in Hendy's arm because I was gripping so hard.

The storyline was not great and Hendy said it was predictable. But we both agree that the young orphan girl played by Isabelle Fuhrman was a great character. I really belived she was psycho!

After the movie, we got to meet Emmy Rossum. She's not only beautiful, but very stylish, charming, sweet and a lot taller than me. (Btw, photo credit goes to Omar... He had his phone handy.)
